John Poulakis

John Poulakis, In Memoriam

The best of the best. That’s how anyone that met our guy John would describe him. Not sure how our world will ever be the same without you. The best husband of 52 years, the best father, and obviously the best Papou. Whatever we needed he was always there to help us or give us advice or just to make sure everyone had a great day.

John’s favorite activity was laughing, playing, and spending time with his grandkids. He loved scooting around the mall and spending hours in the Disney store. He didn’t care what they did or where they went, as long as he heard their happy voices talking and laughing.

John approached every challenge in life with determination and courage.

When he woke up six years ago and learned that he would need to use prosthetic legs to walk, he wasn’t sad or upset, just determined to get up and moving. He always had a smile and a positive attitude. He just kept moving forward to get home. He never gave up. He never let it get him down. Dad was happy and motivated everyday because he knew that he had amazing people continuously on his side rooting him on. Especially his family who supported and loved him with every step.

John was grateful to have prothesics that were comfortable and stable. His prosthetics gave him the opportunity to be independent and be able to successfully get around to the places he enjoyed visiting. John would have been thrilled that other people who have lost limbs would have the freedom to live their lives to fullest.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Such an amazing and inspirational man, who has made an impact on everyone he met.
