He became an acute transfemoral bilateral amputee upon train related trauma at age 3. He was raised in the Great American Oil Patch, also known as the Permian Basin. In west Texas he learned that to get ahead you must work hard with dedication, passion, and integrity while always making room to serve your fellow man.
He learned from his pastor in Odessa, Texas values like “no one owes you a dime” and “always leave things better than you found them”. He earned his business administration bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin and later completed a Master of Science in Accountancy. He is a Texas registered Certified Public Accountant candidate. Recently, Joe made a dynamic career change from serving as an International Tax Analyst for Schlumberger, an oil & gas world leader and fortune 500 company, to fulfill a personal calling of ensuring prosthesis access for all Texans. He is married to Lisa with two children, Jubilee and Melissa. Together they raise an entitled cat, Jerry and a faithful Canine Companions for Independence service dog, McCovey.
